Paris, 27 March 2006
The ICF has been associated with Reporters d'Espoir (Reporters of Hope) in France since its inception in 2003. It was initiated by young French media persons to provide a balance against the negative slant of news and entertainment in the print and broadcast media. It offers annual prizes in four subject categories and an annual magazine presenting the prize-winning entries selected by committees of experienced professionals.
ICF Founder President William Porter attended their Press Conference at the prestigious Paris Press Club on 27 March. More than 200 journalists and media watchers were present to applaud the prizewinners for 2005, who spoke of their determination to present hope to the public through their writings and programmes.
Christian de Boisredon and Pierre Nogue chaired the event and Laurent de Cherisey, co-author of Passeurs d'Espoir (Ferriers of Hope), a current bestseller, gave a concluding rallying speech.
This event marks a growing current to bring positive values into the French print and broadcasting channels.
